Alexander and Persia

Alexander III of Macedon, or Alexander the Great, was the ruler of the known world back in his time. He reached this monumental achievement by conquering any and all opposing forces. The greatest opposing forces  of that time was the Persian army. Alexander the Great led a campaign against Persia thusly named the Persian conquest. Alexander said that his only reason for his massive conquest on Persia was for reprisal of misdeeds by Persia. While this satisfied many, it cannot explain why he conquered more lands and peoples than Persia. Alexander was a man who wanted power and nothing was going to stop him. If he got to trounce the land that put his father's land and his father to shame it just happened to be an extra reward. He may have realized that he had avenged Persian misdeeds but his main goal was of world conquest.
