Philosophers

Socrates- Born 469 BC to humble beginnings he went on to fight for Athens during the Peloponessian War. When Socrates turned forty or so he began to think about the world around him and try to answer some of the more obscure questions presented by society. He went around asking people for their input but it only ever ended badly for Socrates. He did obtain a sort of a following of young boys but was later put on trial for corrupting the youth and being against the democracy. He was sentenced to death.

Plato- Born 429 BC Plato would grow up to be a profound author of stunning books brimming with philosophical insight. He was an Athenian man of high status and it was reflected in his books; his thoughts on politics and intellectual movements were astounding and monumental. In a sense, a concrete subject of philosophy was his brainchild.

Aristotle- Born 384 BC to Nichomachus, a court physician, Aristotle grew up in association with the Macedonian Court which greatly influenced his life. After studying under Plato for twenty odd years Aristotle branched off to lecture on his own account, focusing on rhetoric. Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedonia, Alexander, until he became king and went to conquer. His work being finished there, Aristotle traveled back to Athens and set up a school at Lyceum where he lectured on philosophy.
