Henry VIII

File:Henry-VIII-kingofengland 1491-1547.jpgKing Henry VIII was the king of England for 37 years. In this time frame he became a very famous and notorious man. While Henry believed fervently in the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, he did not like the way they spread the word. Even after Henry was excommunicated for annulling his marriage with Catherine of Aragon.  It would seem that Henry would not be able to stay in reign for very long f he tore down the center of learning of the city. Henry was able to retain his position because he became the Supreme Head of the Church of England under the Act of Supremacy. Under these rules and regulations, Henry took control of the Church from the Pope and gave it to himself. From there he could do whatever he pleased and could not be questioned. King Henry had so much power and he knew that he could do whatever he wanted because he would be backed up by the government.
