If there is intelligent life out there, which there is, there would not be harm in them contacting humanity. Hawking says, "Aliens might simply raid Earth for resources, then move on" (Stephen Hawking). This is not the case. If aliens were to travel all the way to the humble green-blue planet of Earth, they would not destroy it. Being as it is that humanity cannot even
locate planets with life-sustaining capabilities, Earth is quite a primitive nation in terms of spatial expansion. These space-faring creatures, even if they are brutal beasts, may feel sorry for humans. They have traversed the farthest reaches of the universe and found their way to humans. The human race looks bleak and uneducated compared to them. These creatures would not benefit from destroying life on Earth, except for gaining a new planet (a planet low on non-renewable resources in any case). These aliens will look at human as aliens and may even bend their backs low to help them. They may know of a way to find substitutes for oil or other resources. In the end, if aliens were to visit Earth, more good would come than bad. Aliens would help Earth and change humanity's opinions on extra-terrestrials.
